[ Eren struggles with his sense of time, but he gets the tomorrow part right, coming round the bakery in the afternoon. There aren't too many customers, so hopefully it's not a big deal.
I thought...I like to share food that was hard to get at home with people from my world. If I could make it myself instead of buying it, it might be...nice. I guess.
Food in general was pretty scarce for most of my life. Things like sugar weren't common, so...cookies weren't common either. I had them as a kid. My mom made them.
[ This is tied to his desire to learn, at least on a subconscious level. ]
[ ah. rafal always cooked for himself since you never know if your sibling is trying to poison you or not. as for his mother, he could not recall her. ]
[ There's not often a lot of emotion in Eren's tone, but there's a note of sadness when he says that. He knows what it is to lose family.
He watches the tools, bowls, measuring cups, ingredients. He's not even sure what goes in cookies other than flour and sugar. It's fine, though. He's a good learner when he wants to be. ]
[ He hasn't had chocolate chips, give him a second. He's had chocolate, though, obviously. He's mostly had sugar cookies and the raisin kind. He had Oreos once but has no idea how THOSE get made. ]
Wait. Dragon? You're a dragon?
[ He knows the word. He knows what dragons are, in fact, and could turn into one for a het second in the last world he was in. He doesn't have the object that lets him do that here. But he didn't know it worked the other direction, dragons looking like people. ]

Is there anything specific you'd like to learn?
no subject
Something simple like cookies to start? Would that work?
no subject
Meet me at the Equinox Bakery. I will show you how.
slides this to action
[ Eren struggles with his sense of time, but he gets the tomorrow part right, coming round the bakery in the afternoon. There aren't too many customers, so hopefully it's not a big deal.
He finds Rafal at the counter. ]
Hey. If you're busy, I can wait awhile.

[ otherwise he would have said so??? ]
What made you want to learn how to bake?
no subject
[ He's trying to be polite, gosh! ]

[ huh. must be some world. ]

The amount of food here is incredible to me.

Being in a living world has its advantages.
no subject
My world wasn't dead yet.
[ HAHA "yet." ]
Where I grew up, it's...it was destroyed. A lot of our crop land wasn't useable. So people starved.
[ He says this matter-of-fact but there's something cold on his face for a second. ]
This world is a lot better. But the food is one of the best parts.
How come you like baking?
no subject
Cooking is useful. Baking is useful.
[ even a failure like himself could manage that. ]
As for baking, I like sweets. So it made sense to learn how to make my own.
no subject
[ Eren doesn't actually know that much about Rafal. Might as well learn while he learns how to make cookies. ]
I like sweet stuff too. I don't think I could make the fancy things, but...cookies don't look too hard.

[ rafal starts bringing out the ingredients and tools, pointing them out to eren as he does so. ]
And they are not. You should be able to do so easily.

What kind are we making?
no subject
[ rafal gestures to two ingredients and a whisk. ]
And don't be. Fell Dragon siblings have a short expectancy rate.

[ rafal greases the tray in the meantime, preparing the oven. ]
no subject
[ He can pay attention though. Grease the tray? Never would have known to do that.
He can read a recipe obviously but this is still better, if you ask him. He can't zone out and burn something, for one. ]

[ For the first time, he looks actually surprised. Good job on getting a real expression on his face, Rafal! ]

[ He wonders if any of his is somehow blocked, but so far he's been fine. He'll have to ask. ]
But if you're a dragon, do you...always look like you do now?
no subject
No. I can look like a dragon if I choose to.
