It is, but it's like the difference between actual disaster and watching a horror movie! People just want to pretend they're afraid, not actually be afraid!
[It doesn't make that much sense to Ryoji, now that he's spelled it out like that, but he doesn't think a holiday where actively hurting someone would be something you want.]
And of course dragons are clue! They're large and awesome and breathe stuff! You might not realize it, Rafal-san, but I think your dragon form would be a hit amongst the kids.
[ rafal frowns. he has heard that from a few people around here, but it's still confusing to him. dragons are revered or feared. there is no in between in his experience. ]
Very well. I will take your word for it. Why don't you pick the first house and we shall see how it goes?
[Sure enough, the person who opens the door has shock written all over his face, as if he wasn't expecting two people who aren't children with baskets at hand.
Ryoji takes the lead, hoping to demonstrate the proper etiquette to Rafal. He sounds his usual bright and cheery self as he yells]-
Trick or Treat!
[Slam! It is met with outright rejection, the door rudely closing shut at their faces.]
[You know that part from The Shining where "johnny" breaks into a door with an axe and there's someone screaming from the other side? Rafal is sure making a great impression of that scene right now.
Ryoji, meanwhile, is panicking.]
Uhhhh please just give us our candy! And I swear we won't trick you anymore!!!
[ screaming can be heard from inside the house, but rafal can't be bothered. he's heard plenty of screams before. as if such a thing could set him off. he slams his axe into the door a few more times before a hand thrusts out a bowl of candy, filled to the brim.
he pauses. eyes the offering as a dragon eyes its bounty. and snatches it from them, satisfied. ]
[Oh dear god what has he done. They have candy now - but at what cost? And something in Rafal's eyes makes him believe that he wouldn't be satisfied with one bowl's worth of candy alone.
Ryoji looks at the next house down the block and offers them a silent apology.]

[He puts out his empty basket for emphasis.]
And then that's the part where they give you candy! If you don't, you're supposed to "trick" them, but I'm not sure what exactly that entails.

[ rafal may have an odd sense of . . . humour. ]
no subject
[Still, one of those ideas isn't exactly the worst -]
....Being able to see a dragon might be cool though. We can always go with that.
no subject
[ isn't that the point of the costumes? oh well. it's not like he misses the days when he struck fear in the hearts of others. ]
Dragons are cool?

[Hopefully it's not a house with locals who are now newly apprehensive to the Chosen right...right?]

[ regardless it's fine. he will demand his candy. or else.
rafal knocks on the door, waiting expectantly. ]

I will teach these people some manners!

No, Rafal-san! You can't do that! We need to be nice!

[ he is absolutely miffed, he was promised candy! the nerve! the indignity! ]

[Excellent argument, Ryoji.]

It could be worse. Houses can be rebuilt.

[He's not strong enough to reign Rafal in, by the way. Hint, hint.]

[ rafal unsheathes his axe, revanche. aptly named in this moment as he moves to strike the door down. ]

Wanna try saying Trick or Treat this time?
no subject
Yes, I will try the next one. I think I understand the customs better now.
